Product Description
Shell Omala S1 W is a refined high viscosity mineral oil composed of a small number of fatty oils. Shell Omala S1 W is particularly suitable for the lubrication of slow gear transmissions in closed carters and for toothed and worm gears.
This oil also lends itself well for the lubrication of cylinders of steam engines operating at high temperature and pressure.
Features & Benefits
- Oil life – maintenance savings. Shell Omala S1 W has low volatility and a natural resistance to resin formation and carbon deposits at high operating temperatures to ensure good performance throughout the duration of maintenance intervals.
- Protection against wear. Shell Omala S1 W forms a tough oil film at low operating speeds such as in gear and worm gear applications.
Application
- Industrial gears and worm gears in closed carters. Shell Omala S1 W can be used with good results in relatively worn gears and worm gears to reduce further wear and lower the oil bath temperature. Typical examples are low-speed gearboxes in frequent start/stop operation.
- Lubrication of cylinders of steam engines. Suitable for the lubrication of cylinders of steam engines operating at high temperatures and pressures.
- For heavily loaded gears and worm gears, oils of the type Shell Omala S4 WE are recommended.
- For gearboxes with straight and helical gears in closed carters, Shell Omala ‘G’ type oils are recommended.
- For hypoid transmissions in vehicles, it is best to use suitable oils of the type Shell Spirax.
